You know where you spend them?
At work.
We talk rightfully about changing our diets, taking the bike, donating to a NGO, volunteer on a Saturday.
Yet, how we spend most of our time, talent, and skills truly matters.
Here some uncomfortable truths:
"I need an ecology degree."
You don't. Nature needs accountants, artists, Social Media managers too.
"I will be poor."
Not going to lie; monetary riches will be challenging to get. Yet it does get better, and there are some well-paid jobs in nature thanks, especially through nature tech, too.
"I have to change the company"
Yes you can. But if you don't have to. You can also ensure that from now on, you spend your time advocating for nature from inside. Wolf in a sheep costume.
"There are no jobs"
So create them. That crazy wild idea in your head? Why don't take some time this week to work on it and see where it goes?
Provocative on purpose. I know that there is more to it.
Life is rather grey than black and white.
But don't let comfort dictate how wild of a life you want to create.
2 years ago I quit my job and took a 50% salary cut hit. I am only climbing back to my old salary. Yet I wouldn't change it for a second.
