This quote by Alex Hormozi is haunting me. Doesn't let me sleep.
In the start-up world, investors and founders chase to find a great pain they can swoop in to save the day.
No real big pain = no success as a start-up.
The irony is when we look at this through the lens of biodiversity loss.
Arguably, it's one of the biggest pains we currently have. After all, we need it for oxygen, water, food, medicine, and co.
It should be a massive pain, yet we are surrounded by inaction.
So how do we change that?
I believe by changing our arguments.
We need to lead with the pain of the person/community/company/government.
Let the pain be the pitch.
❌ "It's the right thing to do."
✅ "Setting up a nature strategy and executing it will give you a competitive advantage. It will increase your brand value by X percent, it will allow you to attract more top talents, it will reduce your operational costs etc."
❌ "Whales are cute."
✅ "Whales will boost local tourism through whale watching, diving & co. Increasing the numbers of jobs and wealth of our town."
❌ "You are horrible."
✅ "If you don't mawn the lawn you save X amount of € per year and save X h per year on mawn lawning. Time that you can spend doing what you love the most X"
The pain is real, we just need to tap into the pains that are most urgent for the person in front of us. And then show how nature positive actions solve them.
